Seven national MiniGP championships that have applied to join the new FIM MiniGP World Series have been officially selected by the FIM: participants in these series will qualify at the national level, and the fastest will meet face to face in the super final in the MotoGP championship.
A new world series sponsored by FIM and Dorna Sports, which will unite the disparate children’s championships and give their participants clear goals for the future, will start this coming weekend, April 25, with the first final taking place in the fall of 2021. All series under the FIM MiniGP umbrella will be held according to unified technical and administrative regulations, and all will have a single technical partner and motorcycle supplier, due to which the cost of participation in the race should be significantly reduced. More about FIM MiniGP World Series Applications for participation in the FIM MiniGP have been submitted by the national federations of the following countries: France, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the combined group of federations of North America (USA and Canada), Spain and the UK. The Italian FIM MiniGP series opens the season on April 25th this weekend. 5 stages are planned: the first will take place in Magione, two are planned in Modena. Already, 18 participants have been announced, but the list may grow over time. The French FIM MiniGP series kicks off at the end of May at the Le Castellet circuit and will consist of 4 rounds, which will also take place at Aigues Vives, Fontenay le Comte and Alès.
The FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series will take place at the Sepang International Circuit in 4 stages from June to September, with 15 announced. The Dutch series starts at the end of May in Veldhoven, with one round planned in Assen, one in Lelistad and one at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit (Belgium). The North American series will be called the FIM MiniGP North America Series. There are also 4 stages planned here, starting in June: Road America, Ridge Motorsports Park, Pittsburg International Race Complex and Barber Motorsports Park – all in the USA. The Spanish Series kicks off June 5-6 at Circuito Internacional Kotarr. The same 4 rounds, 15 announced pilots are already on the list. The British also announced the presence of 15 participants. The FIM MiniGP UK Series will feature five karting or short track races from the BSB calendar – Thruxton, Donington, Cadwell, Snetterton and Silverstone. The series starts at the end of July, as soon as the antique dynamics becomes clear.
